Jan K. Dunning, Owner and Managing Director

Jan began her dance training at the age of eight with the Asbury School of Dance in Houston, Texas. She was accepted in the Houston Ballet Company at the age of 11, where she danced until graduating from high school. Jan received a Bachelor of  Arts in dance at the University of Oklahoma, studying classical ballet, modern dance, choreography, pantomime, theater production and dance pedagogy. She later pursued graduate studies in dance at the University of Oklahoma and Southwest Missouri State University.

Jan has an extensive background in teaching and choroegraphy. She opened the Jefferson City Dance Academy in 1979. Her studio is now the oldest, continuously operating dance studio in Jefferson City, Missouri. She has also taught at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri and William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri. Her dancers  and her choreography have won numerous awards at      national dance competitions.
